One of my most gratifying moments as a dietitian was helping a patient manage their phosphorus while preserving their treasured family recipes. Instead of asking them to give up cultural dishes, we modified the ingredients, method and preparation. Seeing their joy and relief when their labs improved, and they could still recreate their favorite meals in a renal-friendly way was unforgettable.
