My why to be with East Olympic Fresenius is because I have a deep commitment to helping patients in my community. Raised in Los Angeles, I’ve always felt a strong connection to the people here, and working in healthcare allows me to give back to the community that helped shape who I am. I’m particularly drawn to Fresenius’ mission of providing high quality care to patients with kidney disease, as I know how vital these services are to individuals and families in our area. Being part of a company that is dedicated to improving patient outcomes and fostering a culture of compassion aligns perfectly with my personal values and my desire to make a positive impact on the health and well being of the people I grew up with.

Fresenius continues to be a place of commitment, dedication and loyalty to staff and patients. When I first started at FMC, I didn’t have much experience in dialysis until FMC open the doors to me and allow to grow and learn as a professional. Throughout my life, I had the opportunities to experience many different roles in my life. From my younger age to where I am now; I worked as a nurse assistant, Home Health agency supervisor, a hospice home health aide in hospice care, advocacy for individuals with HIV and at-risk youth, substance abuse counseling and working with children’s protective services. It was through these life experiences that I realized the meaningful importance of empathy, cultural competence, and the ability to navigate complex systems. All these experiences have led me to where I am now as a social worker in the field of dialysis. I can say that working with Fresenius has brought me satisfaction as a social worker and allows me to continue to provide our patients with the support needed.

I’m proud to be a part of FME because it let’s me be the leader I want to be. It also helps me fulfill a personal legacy to my father. My father was a dialysis patient who passed away in 2000. He was very mishandled by the dialysis clinic he received treatment at. If I wasn’t a nurse he would have died in that clinic. He lived only 10 days after that incident. Every day that I walk into my clinic, I promise Dad to help my patients to the best of my ability and give them all the care I can no longer give to him. Why dialysis? I chose to begin my dialysis career as a technician working in the in-center environment and eventually transitioned to Home Therapies. I am now a RN working in-center, with future goals to transition back to Home Therapies. I enjoy working in dialysis because it allows me to make a difference in patients’ lives that require long-term care to stay well. The thought of being a dialysis technician never entered my mind. The start of my journey into the dialysis world was through my sister and my brother being dialysis nurses and FME allowed me to have a very good learning experience I am very grateful I feel empowered and the confidence I have at work because of what I learned from my Preceptor and Educator and to My supportive Boss they are all subject-matter experts with extensive knowledge and experience in hemodialysis. The comprehensive and precise training I received resulted in my successful passing of the State Board of California certification in one try. I have been a patient care technician for almost 3 years and also I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapist so doing both jobs has been one of the most rewarding I’ve experienced. I love to care for those who are limited or unable to care for themselves. To care for older patients also warms my heart.
This type of situation encourages me to not give up while I provide treatment 3 days per week, 3-4 hours per day. I strive to make sure that although this is not what that patient imagined his or her life to be, they don’t regret choosing to continue life by way of hemodialysis treatments. I’m honored to be a part of helping them continue this journey called life to its end, whenever that time may come
I am proud, pleased, and honored to be a certified dialysis technician, and I pray if allowed to learn and grow I can become a dialysis RN soon.

While I loved helping patients, the physical strain of bedside care was challenging, especially as one of the only male CNAs, often tasked with lifting heavier patients. A friend suggested I try dialysis, and I applied to Fresenius Medical Care. From day one, I felt supported and valued. Now, I’m able to do what I’m passionate about—helping patients—while also protecting my health and providing for my family. FME has given me the opportunity to grow in my career and make a meaningful difference every day.

When I first started working at Fresenius Medical Care, I felt uncertain about my skills and whether I could meet the high standards of dialysis care. But thanks to the incredible support of my team and the comprehensive training FME provided, I began to grow in confidence. I vividly remember the first time I independently performed a challenging task and received encouragement from my mentor—it was a turning point in my career. FME’s commitment to nurturing growth gave me the tools and confidence to excel. Today, I’m proud to be part of a team that inspires and empowers every day.

Dialysis technician why? For me This is the most stable job. Waiting time for a kidney takes a while.
Working for more than 17 years , very rare I called in sick, as a opener you got big responsibilities. I sill have the same energy since I started working. Helping patients clean their blood put them on the machine, for me very rewarding. That’s all I can say.

I always thought that work should be fun and fulfilling, but when I was doing office work I didn’t feel neither. Until one day I went with my Grandma to her dialysis and I met her technician. He seemed happy when he was helping out my Grandma, so I thought to myself why not try to become a PCT. And 20 years later, I’m very happy to have made that decision.

Before I was a Dialysis Technician I was working at Disneyland “the happiest place on earth”, but I was miserable. I didn’t understand how people on their vacation could be so mean. Guests would be complaining about how expensive everything is. I needed a change for my mental health. I have a couple of cousins working as Dialysis Technicians in the Bay Area and they always seem to be happy. My journey towards my goal of becoming a Hemodialysis Technician was very challenging but I could say that it is very fulfilling now that I just entered my 19th year. Praying for more meaningful years to come.

Working as a Dialysis Technician I get to meet different patients, their families and their stories. About 5 years ago I met a patient that was very nice to me but very aloof and sometimes down right mean to all the other staff. This really puzzled me considering how kind he is to me. As it turns out when he was diagnosed with kidney failure his son was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and he didn’t know how to deal with it but to be mean so people would not pity him. He felt hopeless. However I did not want to give up on him so 1 day I just thought I’ll ask him if there’s anything I could do to help him ease his daily battle. I was surprised when he said he really hated the treatment time he was given (1:30pm). I approached my FA and asked her if my patient could be given an earlier time whenever there’s an opening. A couple of weeks later he was coming in at 5:30 am and it’s as if he was a totally different person cause now he’s greeting everyone, staff and other patients. I didn’t know doing something small on my part could be so big to someone else who’s going through a difficult time. So proud to be making a difference. No matter how small it may be it is a Big deal.

Why I’m proud to be FME
I was a PCT since 2006, over the years, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the impact dialysis can have on patient’s lives. I relocated to the bay area 2019 taking on roles as a Regional PCT Float and Bay Area PCT float, and joined an incredible team. My managers have been excellent mentors, guiding me and providing me with the tools I need to succeed. Their support helped me grow both personally and professionally. I am honored to have been promoted to the FA position, granting me the opportunity to lead my team. With the help of my DO, ATL, CN and the rest of the South San Francisco Team-I’ve gained the confidence to lead the clinic. I’m more passionate about my work than ever. I’ve learned that being empathetic, kind and compassionate is key to being a good leader.
Working with a diverse team has been enriching experience. While we come from different cultures and have varying perspectives, we are united by our common goal of providing the best possible care to our patients. By embracing our differences and fostering a collaborative environment, we have been able to achieve great success as a team
I believe that building a strong relationships with patients is essential to providing quality care. By listening to their needs and concerns, we can create a more compassionate and supportive environment.

I started dialysis 40 years ago, when Dr. Drake that invented the Drake/Willock dialysis machine that was an innovation in the evolution of outpatient dialysis was my medical director at Good Samaritan hospital in north Portland Oregon. Hallow fiber dialyzers where still new and we still had some flat plate dialyzer in use. We hung blood every week because there were no ESA’s. Ok now that you’re convinced that I’m old I call it experience. My journey through the time machine took me to Hawaii where I did a stent in ICU but then jumped back into dialysis at St. Francis in Oahu and then Maui. We, FMC, now owns those clinics after liberty bought The renal institute of the Pacific, St. Francis, then we bought Liberty. Being in Maui I took a break for 20 years before jumping back in and was a Clinical Coordinator for an acute program in Sacramento then I was enticed by the dark side, that’s what DaVita used to call Fresenius, to manage a clinic. And then did every different thing in between till now. Now I am a CN2 which is a best fit for me. So. What I love about Fresenius it the opportunity to be challenged and grow. I have done many roles and there are many more in the company. Opportunity to grow. That’s what makes this company great.

It’s been a long journey from the depths of my life and Fresenius became the light that gave me my new life. I came to Fresenius having general rustic knowledge of the kidneys and its functions and the biggest question in my life- What and how will I survive this challenge of learning and working with very different people at this age of my life? After gathering the greatest courage of sending my CV and being interviewed, I got the job. Next, how was I going to take the training with younger people whom I never met? I still needed that courage. So with it, I trained, learned, practiced and then finally passing the most dreaded exam of all time. From then on, because of the patience of my mentors and colleagues and unwavering help and availability of everyone, I am still standing with the Fresenius experience and sharing my life and knowledge to colleagues and patients alike. Every day that I see each person’s face, I see the heart and the love for life and the eagerness to make life more beautiful for each and every being- colleagues and patients alike. Every day I thank the Lord for bringing me to this one big family call Fresenius and through all the ups and downs I have experienced; I still am proud and happy to have become a member. Thank you so much and more to come.

I helped start a brand new clinic, one not only for PD, but for a TCU and HHD. Not being familiar with HD/HHD, I wanted to gain more knowledge, which has been a great challenge. I feel I am now a well-rounded dialysis nurse – PD/TCU/HHD. What keeps me here are the patients and my coworkers. What a wonderful experience to see a patient either crash into dialysis or are new to ESRD, to be trained to do their own hemodialysis via CVC or cannulating an access themselves! I am really in awe of what our patients can do!

I came into being a dialysis nurse 11 years ago at Fresenius Medical Care San Diego DS Home and have stayed with FKC because I enjoyed seeing patients become independent and learn how to care for themselves and do their own dialysis treatments. I started out in Peritoneal Dialysis without any experience in dialysis. It interested me that we can train patients to do their own dialysis treatments in their home and that I wanted to continue to learn more. I have always had a passion to teach and it has been rewarding to be able to train new patients and staff. It has also been very fulfilling to see patients improve from when they started. It was nice to get to know the patients and follow up on their lives each visit and to see how they continue to have a life along with doing PD. After about 4 years, I became the manager of this clinic where I was able to continue to grow in knowledge and confidence as well as see my coworkers grow. During my time at this clinic, we had themed months to dress up for MD rounds, which was the highlight for me as I feel it helped keep the patients in good spirits as well as just a fun thing to do! I was going to submit a group picture of my coworkers and I in our superhero costumes that conveyed the monthly theme for to our patients that they are superheroes in their care, but unfortunately, I do not know the consents have been signed as I am no longer at this clinic. This is the clinic I started my dialysis career in and had to be sure I mentioned where I started!

We take the time to get to know about each and every patient. We get the privilege of spending hours on end with them as we train them on their new journey to on home dialysis. As a nurse beginning a new journey to the world of dialysis was overwhelming and challenging for me to say the least as I have only fundamental knowledge of dialysis. Working in Fresenius has provided me with the opportunity to work with people who share their knowledge and skills as we venture on the complexities of treating patients with ESRD undergoing dialysis. The staff are all incredible, I appreciate and am grateful for them for being patient, kind and helpful as I have a lot to learn still. The warmth and the atmosphere of the clinic has made it at ease to work knowing that I am in good hands as I navigate my way around things. Moreover, the appreciation and the kindness that we receive from patients has keep us motivated to provide the most possible care for them to be able to feel more secured, safe and comfortable. Having to get the firsthand experience of meeting patients who are diagnosed with ESRD who has to start with dialysis is fulfilling because there are different emotions going through and you get the chance to help them feel less anxious and apprehended as they start their own journey. It has been an interesting 2 months for me since there are various activities that we have participated in such as Halloween, thanksgiving and the likes. It was fun dressing up in different costumes for various activates and seeing fascinating looks of patients has made it even more joyful. I am blessed to have been working in this clinic looking forward for better things ahead.

In the past 13 years, working different positions with Fresenius, has had its challenges, but I continued to move forward. I continued to move forward for my team, my patients and my family. Why? Because I see the commitment and compassion that many of my co-workers do to improve many lives that they take care of. I have seen many employees use what this company offers, the opportunities furthering their education and job advancement. In my personal life, in one of the clinics that I worked at, I had my sister-in-law, my cousin’s (by marriage) brother, my mother’s best friend and another cousin’s (by marriage) aunt. Seeing and working side by side with staff that cared for my family, giving them hope and treating them like human, made me proud to be working with this company.

Being employed by Fresenius makes me proud because my clinic has the foundation of any successful collaborative endeavor and is effective collaboration, which encourages communication, trust, and shared accountability among team members. When people collaborate well, they bring a variety of viewpoints and abilities to the table, which improves creativity and problem-solving. A cohesive team acknowledges each member’s contributions, respects one another, and actively listens to one another. Setting specific objectives, allocating responsibilities according to individual strengths, and helping one another get past obstacles are all essential components of effective teamwork. Teams can accomplish more as a group than as individuals working alone by emphasizing cooperation and keeping a positive outlook, which fosters a sense of cohesion and shared success.

With the experiences I gained in my training I become more relaxed and collected. Being aware of every second that goes by, attending to and managing the health of not just “my patients,” but also every patient in the facility. What once seemed like chaos, I soon realized, was more like a symphony. I do what I do to say the access which is that person’s lifeline. For this, I’m proud to have been a technician for as long as I have. I love working for Fresenius because I am part of a team of great and dedicated people. My co-workers, my CM, the folks who work on the in-center side and the doctors are all extremely competent and committed to doing the best for our patients and to keeping the work environment relaxed. We have low turnover for staff and our quality numbers are consistently high. That is due to team effort. Our patient satisfaction is also very high and I feel that here, our outcomes are often better than I have seen elsewhere. I look forward to coming in to work because it’s like a family. We all have an attitude of mutual respect.

It was once a dream. I had the privilege of speaking to over a hundred employees at BNMG about the Transitional Care Unit. I recalled a time when I was in the audience, listening intently to real-life stories from patients and healthcare professionals who had made a positive impact on others’ lives. I always hoped that one day, I would be in front of an audience, sharing my knowledge to improve the lives of the community we serve. That dream became a reality through my work with Fresenius, allowing me to contribute to a cause I deeply believe in and am passionate about. #ProudToBeFME

Every time I visit this facility it is always a pleasure. Staff is friendly, communicative and always in a positive attitude. During the holidays it has felt at home to be at the facility with decorations all over. While working in the front a patient approached saying “I found the elf may you please add my name to the raffle” the AA then helped. As she’s walking away she tells another patient I love coming now I look forward to looking for the elf makes it so much fun! Being around this environment makes it easier for patients to come rather than feeling like a burden.

I’m intrigued by this facility. Always willing to help whenever needed. Sharing a special story making a difference one patient at a time. Patient walked in the facility for treatment without schedule or being expected. However, instead of turning the patient down with team effort the patient was accommodated right away with no hesitation. Not only was he accommodated but educated right there and then and will now be pursuing HHD. Giving our patients quality of life and making sure they are aware of their options right away is what we aim for. This is what I live for changing patients lives with the support of my team otherwise this would not have happened!

Fresenius continues to offer the flexibility and autonomy that I need as a single parent of a special needs child. My work schedule is flexible, and I am extremely appreciative that I work alongside management that supports work life balance. My team allows me to not only be an amazing social worker to our patients and their families, but also an amazing mom.

One of my most gratifying moments as a dietitian was helping a patient manage their phosphorus while preserving their treasured family recipes. Instead of asking them to give up cultural dishes, we modified the ingredients, method and preparation. Seeing their joy and relief when their labs improved, and they could still recreate their favorite meals in a renal-friendly way was unforgettable. At Fresenius Medical Care, I’m proud to work with patients to find creative solutions that enhance the quality of their lives, showing that even tiny changes can lead to significant results.

Before joining FMC Marina Bay, I decided to pursue a nursing degree. With support from my manager and colleagues, I balanced work and academics, completing necessary prerequisites for nursing school without financial aid. During my first year, I gained hands-on experience, learning essential clinical skills and receiving training for the newly implemented Transitional Care Pod. Marina Bay has provided numerous opportunities for growth, helping me build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to deliver excellent patient care. This experience has been pivotal in both my personal and professional development.

Over the past year working in dialysis, I’ve deepened my patient care skills while improving my Tagalog and Spanish through interactions with patients from diverse linguistic backgrounds. This experience has strengthened my ability to connect with individuals facing communication barriers, enhancing both my cultural competency and empathy. I find purpose in knowing my work directly improves patients’ quality of life, and the daily challenges keep me engaged and motivated. Dialysis care, for me, is about offering compassionate support throughout a difficult journey, making the work deeply meaningful and rewarding.

“Before joining FMC Marina Bay, I made the decision to return to school and pursue a nursing degree. With the support of my manager and colleagues at Marina Bay, I was able to successfully balance both my work and academic responsibilities. During my first year at Marina Bay, I completed the final prerequisites needed to apply for nursing school, funding these courses independently without relying on financial aid.
In addition to my academic achievements, I gained valuable hands-on experience, learning essential skills for success on the clinic floor. I also received training to work in the newly implemented Transitional Care Pod, which further expanded my expertise.
Marina Bay has provided me with countless opportunities to grow both personally and professionally, helping me build the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary for delivering excellent direct patient care.”

As the longest-serving PCT at my clinic, I’ve had the pleasure of building lasting connections with many patients, but one in particular stands out. This patient always greets me with a big smile and calls me “Judge Judy” because of my hairstyle. Their humor and lightheartedness never fail to brighten my day, even during the busiest shifts. Moments like these remind me of the joy and relationships that come with this job. At Fresenius Medical Care, it’s not just about providing treatment—it’s about creating a positive, welcoming environment for patients and staff alike. I’m grateful for these moments that make every day meaningful.

As the longest-serving PCT at my clinic, one of my favorite traditions is our annual Christmas outing. Every year, the team comes together to celebrate the season, and we always choose a buffet as our go-to spot. It’s a time to laugh, bond, and, of course, eat way too much! Seeing everyone enjoy themselves outside of work reminds me of the special connection we share as a team. These moments of camaraderie make all the hard work worth it. When I transferred from the Pasadena clinic, I was nervous about fitting into a new team. But one experience early on erased all my doubts. A patient’s family brought in a thank-you card for the staff, and instead of just one person taking credit, the entire team celebrated together. It showed me how much this clinic values collective effort. Whether it’s patient care or supporting each other during a tough day, everyone steps up without hesitation. That sense of unity made me feel like I had been here all along. FME’s culture of teamwork and gratitude is truly inspiring, and I’m proud to be part of it.

After transferring from the Pasadena clinic to my current location, I was immediately struck by how tight-knit the team was. One of my favorite memories was during a particularly hectic day when a patient needed extra time for their treatment. Without hesitation, the entire team—nurses, PCTs, and even the clinic manager—jumped in to help each other finish tasks and support the patient. It was like a perfectly synchronized effort, and it reminded me of the true meaning of teamwork. FME fosters an environment where collaboration and patient care come first, and I’m proud to contribute to this incredible team dynamic.

Transferring from the Pasadena clinic to my current location at Fresenius Medical Care was a big change, but it’s been an incredible experience. I brought with me the knowledge and skills I gained in Pasadena and was able to apply them to a new environment. What stood out immediately was how welcoming my new team was, making the transition seamless. Patients often ask about my background, and sharing my journey helps build trust. One of my favorite parts of being a nurse at Fresenius Medical Care is helping patients understand their treatment. I once worked with a patient on dialysis who felt completely lost. As a nurse who often closes the clinic, I sometimes find myself being the last one to leave. It can be unnerving to be alone in a quiet building at night, but I’m grateful for the kindness of one PCT who always stays behind with me, even after clocking out.
