Employees at the Los Gatos center look forward to the employee appreciation days the Sierra Coast Region sponsors monthly. And, sometimes, they go all in on the month’s theme, like they did in June for the superhero-themed day. According to Facility Administrator Edna Jakubovic, having fun is an important part of the job.
She also said her Los Gatos team likes to win. So, when the region announced an employee appreciation video contest to earn a kitchen upgrade, they got down to business. Their video, one of 22 entries, earned them a new couch, coffee maker and air fryer.
How the Los Gatos Heroes Prevailed
Edna explained, “I wanted this video to be simple and from the heart. I wanted to let everyone say how they are a superhero and why they are here.” And that’s what they did.
Sandy Burton, a registered dietician, explains in the video “All that I have, all that I do, comes from my heart. I’m here to help my patients. I’m so proud that they trust me and know that I care, and that’s what makes me a superhero.”
Los Gatos Administrative Assistant Nancy Alongi, says “No matter what’s going on in our patient’s lives, I want them to feel comfortable here.”
Celebrating All Employees
According to Rocko Graziano, Sierra Coast Regional Vice President, employee appreciation days are meant to celebrate all employees and recognize their hard work and commitment to providing exceptional care to Fresenius Medical Care patients. “Across all our centers, from our outstanding clinical teams to our phenomenal support staff, every team member plays a crucial role in our patients’ success and it’s important that we dedicate time to celebrate this,” he said.
